Description
The CPD-16 Continuous Particulate Detector is a fixed radiation monitoring detector developed for the continuous measurement of the volumetric activity of airborne alpha and beta active aerosols.
The CPD-16 assists in protecting personnel in radiation-controlled areas against the risk of internal contamination that may arise from radioactive particulates. Measurement is performed by passing an air sample, taken from the working environment air, ventilation systems, or environmental sampling lines, through the detector module.
The sampled air is passed over a moving filter tape, and aerosol particulates are retained on the filter. Two Si-PIN detectors, positioned close to the filter, enable high-efficiency measurement of the captured alpha and beta activity.
The main detector, performing real-time measurement, evaluates the instantaneous activity of aerosols accumulated on the filter at the sampling point. The second detector, performing delayed measurement, assists in reducing the effect of radon decay products by measuring after the decay of short-lived natural radionuclides.
Thanks to dynamic background compensation, radon/thoron compensation, and filter pressure loss monitoring functions, the CPD-16 offers a suitable solution for long-term and reliable airborne particulate monitoring applications. The moving filter tape structure allows for continuous measurement for months without requiring filter replacement, depending on the operating mode.
