Description

The LAM-503 Liquid Activity Monitor is a fixed radiation monitoring system developed to measure the total volumetric activity of gamma-emitting radioactive noble gases in the steam-air mixture within the turbine condenser vacuum pump sump ventilation line at nuclear power plants.

The LAM-503 assists in reliably tracking radioactive noble gas levels in the ventilation line, particularly under unusual operating conditions. Its ATL-type monitor structure allows the detector to be positioned at an appropriate distance from the measured pipeline, enabling measurements without direct intervention in the process line.

The system comprises an NGD-15 detector group, a PU-06 BOX local signal processing unit, and an RPU-06 radiation processing unit. Two CdTe semiconductor detectors and two distinct collimator structures support reliable evaluation across medium and high measurement ranges.

An integrated Am-241 control and stabilization source is utilized for automatic stabilization and functional testing. The RPU-06 unit locally displays measurement results, archives measurement values, and provides visual and audible alerts upon exceeding predefined alarm levels.

Through Ethernet Modbus TCP and RS-485 Modbus RTU interfaces, the LAM-503 can be integrated into facility radiation monitoring infrastructures. Data transfer to safety-classified and non-safety-classified systems can be supported with optional analog and digital input/output modules.
